Great pictures in daylight
Nice camera and great pictures in daylight but struggles in subdued lighting. Over a year after I had this I found the lens would not come out. I expected I would need to buy a new camera as repair would proberly not be cost effective. On contacting Olympus they said this was covered for 3 years I think. I couldn't belive my luck so I sent off to them and sometime later I recieved it back and glad to say all is ok. Only four stars due to pic quality in poor lighting(brilliant in daylight). Max Qudos to Olympus though

Brilliant
I previously had a Sony 14mp camera, this is a far better camera, the pictures are crisp and very clear. Easy to use and easy to hold. The optical zoom is fantastic for a small camera. The back up from from Olympus is very impressive. The software that comes with the camera is the best I've seen. It's very easy to upload pictures on to your computer. Would recommend.

Perfect for everyday use
I'm no photographer so was looking for a good quality point and shoot, this is perfect for me. It's very easy to use, comfortable to hold and easy to carry, while taking good quality photos. There are a lot if different functions, so when I am feeling adventurous it's fun to play with. I also find the zoom to be very good, you can zoom in and still get great photos without losing the clarity. I would recommend buying a case it keep it safe from scratches etc.

The worst camera I have ever had
There weren't many reviews available when I bought this camera but I stupidly thought the Olympus name was comment enough. The camera wasn't able to take photos! Everything was blurred, literally almost every photo, it was unbelievable. By this time I was in Dubai so I went to the Olympus shop there. They played with it for a while and then replaced my camera for a new one (no quibbling even though my original purchase was through Amazon UK). Unfortunately, this new camera was much the same! And then the lens cover flap thing failed to close. I contacted Olympus UK by email (sending them comparason photos from my Casio)and by phone but they weren't interested - and one lady quite rudly told me that if I wasn't happy I could go back to the shop in Dubai(!) - another explained that this was a 'beginners' camera (as if that was some sort of excuse for it not being able to take photographs?) - where do they find these people from?I know this isn't a very detailed review but after a few months in and around east Africa (with my faithfull old (and knackered) Casio EX Z1200) I have forgotten fully my disappointment with the SZ-10 and my disgust at the uncaring Olypus' UK customer support. At the end of the day, the only decent photo I ever got with this camera was of the Moon (during the daytime), using max zoom but, as I have an 8.5 inch Newtonian telescope at home, that was no great shakes! If anyone really want's this camera and thinks my photo abilities might be the cause of my problems please check out my FB thing (Titus Drummond). Just don't waste your money on this camera - it's a joke and, personally, I will never buy an Olympus product again. There must be a lot of water under the bridge since David Baily and the Olympus Trip (remember those adverts?) but I guess the company has been living on its laurels ever since.

Take time to learn!
I bought my SZ-10 2 weeks ago and settled down to read the disk/manual. But there's no substitute for just going out, I thought, and trying it and I gave up doing my homework before use. Mistake! It takes some getting used to for sure. This is my 3rd Olympus and suddenly it's all more complex than before. After several days use I am getting improving results and find the the "P" method ( I am a point and shoot person) gives excellent results but needs careful positioning of the small green box in the LCD screen to ensure an image that is not over bright and over dark in places. I read in another review that the pictures were out of focus/blurred. That is not my experience. It is essential to take time to frame shots, half-press the shutter release to achieve focus and as a result ALL my pictures have turned out really sharp. Comment has been made too on the flimsy plastic cover for the battery and card and I agree with this. I feel that it will not last long. Battery life is a little disappointing and after 60 or so shots without flash I have had to recharge 3 times. A second battery is on my wish list. The camera appears robust and fits well into the pocket, which suits my travel needs. The 3 inch screen is marvellous and it is the best I have ever had for coping with a sunny situation and still maintains visibility. Despite my small minus points given, I still score this camera with a full 5 stars and I'm well pleased with its performance, looks and portability. At this price I think it is #1 quality and the few negative comments that I have made do not detract from my satisfaction and are acceptable to me in achieving VFM (as they say these days)

Nach langem Suchen haben wir uns für die Olympus SZ-10 entschieden. Nach 24 h wurde sie durch DHL zugestellt. Lob an die Post!!! Die Kamera erklärt sich beinah von selbst, bietet ein sehr intuitives Menü. Nach den ersten Probebildern kann ich die SZ-10 nur wärmstens empfehlen. Egal in welchem Modus man fotografiert, gestochen scharfe Bilder. Nahaufnahmen, die bei unserer "Alten" immer grieslich wirkten, sind hier in hervorragender Qualität. Und das Preis-Leistungsverhältnis bei dieser hohen Qualität verdienen zurecht 5 Sterne!!!!!
