The finest headphones I've ever worn.
As a world traveler, I've had the opportunity to try every noise cancelling headphone on the market. From the extremely high priced models, to the budget conscious versions. What one may lack in performance in one area, it may shine in another. One critical aspect has always been that when the noise canceling system is working, in every model I've tried, the audio suffers. Until now. Without a doubt; these are the absolute pinnacle, not only in noise cancelling, but true audio fidelity. With incredibly rich lows, to crisp, clean highs, these headphones unabashedly surpass every other headphone that I have ever tried. The active noise cancellation function exceeded not only my expectations, but provided a welcome respite from the, from what I consider stalwart and stodgy competitors. The dual drivers in each earcup seem to immerse the wearer in a dimensional symphony where you are the sole front row audience.I have personally worn headphones that cost hundreds and thousands more, and find these without a doubt, the finest that I've ever had the true pleasure of listening.

Fragile
I've had mine for a while and didn't think they were too bad for the money. The yoke on the muff broke in a place hard to repair and customer service was unresponsive. Get better ones. You are likely going to have to spend the money anyway.

Cheap but still pretty good
Right up front, these are great headphones for the money. That being said, the noise cancellation is nowhere near as good as high end Sony or Bose models. Also, the sound these put out is adequate but nothing to write home about. For whatever reason, if you don't have the noise cancellation on, the actual quality of the sound is significantly reduced. Also, I am not a bass freak but these are really lacking on the bottom end regardless what equalizer settings I try to use. I thought the huge drivers would guarantee a great bass response, but I was wrong. These are certainly not audiophile quality. The general feel of the materials good. No complaints there.

OVER RATED
This product does not work as advertised. It doesn't filter out snoring, airline background noise, or related noises. Do not rely on the 5 star reviews; they are fatuously overstated and misleading.

Great for noise reduction.
Bought these for long airline trip. After being airborne for a few minutes I put the Solitude XCS2's on and switched on the noise reduction button and was quite surprised how much the noise was reduced. I could not easily speak to the person next to me before putting on the Solitude as the noise was that great. The Solitude cutout by my estimation over 90% of the noise coming from the aircraft. While I watched a movie on the seat back monitor I was almost oblivious to the aircraft noise.Great value for what I paid!

Decent, but hoped for more.
I bought these based on the reviews. I wanted something for airline travel. I thought they worked pretty good until I sampled a set of Bose side by side while on the same flight. The Bose set was superior at canceling noise. On 10+ hour flights the difference is well worth it.Update: After using these for a while I've decided to buy another set. They aren't as effective at noise cancelling as the Bose, but they don't cost near as much either. They do a respectable job cancel noise and the sound is equally impressive, so I'm adding a star.

Superb! Even compared to my friends BEATS headphones. Solid!
Read about these headphones on a travel blog, and decided if they were good enough for a frequent, world traveler, they should probably suit me fine. They Will. They are solidly built, but not too heavy. My friend has BEATS, that sound great, but they are heavy and he cannot wear them for long periods of time. The Active Noise Cancelling works very well, although I haven't tried them out on an airliner yet. They come in a nice case, with all the cords you could ever need stowed in a tidy zipper enclosure velcro'd to the inside of the case. 2 AAA batteries are included. Solid!

love love love these headphones
love love love these headphones. We upgraded to the new versions after having the previous one for a while. I bought the old ones for my daughter so she could concentrate in class easily. She loved them so much and raves about them my son now wants a pair for when he takes his math tests in middle school. So we ordered the new style ones, he loves the sleek modern design. The sound quality is excellent even if the noise cancelling feature is turned off. I borrowed them from my daughter for a flight and I was really impressed with the noise cancelling feature...blocked the noise of all the other passengers...can't recommend them enough! Oh and packaging...excellent!
