Very quite, and effective
The media could not be loaded. Great unit, super quiet , seems to be well made, just set up a new tank and water is circulating well, have to see how it works over time but I suspect it will be great. My air pumps make a lot more noise.

Brilliant pump and well worth the money.
I was a bit dubious at first, given how cheap the pump is. We previously used Interpet pumps that would keep failing after 6 months or so and came home after a week away, to find our old pump had failed and the tank was in a very poor state. Needing a quick replacement, we ordered this pump for next day delivery, pre-washed the filters and installed it. Within 4 hours, the tank was absolutely pristine!Replacement filters are so much cheaper than our old pump and this one is also modular, so you can adjust the depth accordingly. We have an approx 220 gallon tank, using only 2 of the filter housings and it's faultless. Definitely recommended.

Very good pump, let down by a couple of stupid things.
This is a big pump, roughly 18 inches from top of pump to bottom of filters. The pump is excellent, high powered with a good flow rate in my 300+ litre tank. after running this for a few weeks now the water is crystal clear. I would recommend this pump to anyone with a few caveats. If the height of the pump is too big for your tank then you can remove one or more of the filter sections. Although my tank is deep enough to run with all the filters in place, I removed the middle yellow filter section as the bottom filter wasn't actually filtering anything. After first week of use the top filter was very dirty, the middle filter was dirty but not as much as the top filter and the bottom filter was clean. The second week showed exactly the same result, so I removed the middle filter, I will keep it for a spare. The cable length is too short, it says it is just over a metre in length but I think this is an overestimation. Unless your power source is very close to your tank you will need to run an extension cable to the back of your tank. This is probably my biggest complaint about the pump, it would surely not have added too much to the price to add a longer cable. The suckers used to attach the pump to the glass are, not to put too fine a point on it, rubbish. The best advice is throw them away and get some good ones from another retailer. This is a very good product let down by a couple of bad decisions. I can't fault the job the pump does on cleaning the water but the short cable length and terrible suction pads mean it loses 1 star.

The media could not be loaded. This is my second one of these filters and only replaced as I dropped the last one broke it , I had the first one 1.5 year at that point ! Quiet , excellent cleaning , adds air bubbles and flow ! Iβd recommend to anyone! Great value for money

Didn't work in my tank
After reading all the reviews after my FX6 filter went wrong I decided to purchase this for my 300l tank. After cycling it with an already established filter i let it run by itself.Waste of money. Within 2 days my tank was filthy and the water stunk where the filter isn't powerful enough and doesn't catch the debris Wouldn't recommend for this size tank.

This pump is ... WOW!My large Blood Parrot Cichlid didn't know what to do with himself at first, going from pond like calm waters to the equivalent of a white water river. I mean... his eyes were big before, but when I plugged this thing in, they were even larger with surprise. Never ever have I seen him beat his fins as fast as he did in the first few hours.Joking aside though... I've angled the flow upwards and the turbulence is perfectly oxygenating the water while maintaining a comfortable environment in the rest of the tank. The pump sucks a vast amount of water through the sponges and the water looks crystal clear. I'm adamant that the old fish (10 years this year) is much more sprightly looking since I added this filter to his aquarium (yes he's a boy as he regularly develops his seasonal nuchal hump and becomes really fighty).Highly recommended and "Chips" (the fish) seems to have no complaints.

Excellent filter - Even for 100 litre Aquarium
I bought this for a 100 litre weather loach tank and it's been fantastic. It's really powerful but with the directional flow you can stop it from destroying your tank if like me you use it in a smaller tank than it's designed (weather loaches can be messy)It's also very slim and you can remove the compartments so if it's too tall with all 3 (like mine was) I just removed one and had two filter compartments running and it's still excellent.I've ordered another for a 100 litre endler guppy tank which may seem like overkill but it's actually much smaller than a large weak filter I got with the tank. I'm also confident it can be set up so it won't blast the fish around the tank.Edit : I have since set this up on a 100 litre endler guppy fish tank and it's fine, I just directed the flow into a nearby wall of the tank and the fish aren't having any problems. Even fry are just swimming around as normal.
