Hello Kay,Great question. The silk is both, please allow me to explain. First - we only use Mulberry Silk. Mulberry Silk is widely recognized as the worlds finest silk. The silk worms that eat Mulberry leaves spin their cocoon from one silk thread. Charmeuse is type of weave. Q: Silk from China can be full of pesticides...does anyone know about the source of this silk and how it is grown?

Silk is an animal byproduct, specifically a type of moth. Using pesticides would kill the moth so I would imagine they avoid using pesticides when farming silkworms.
