I picked up the ThermoPro TP19H Digital Meat Thermometer on Amazon for my weekend grilling sessions, and I’ve got to say, it’s been a solid addition to my kitchen gear. I’m just a regular guy who loves cooking for family and friends, and this thing has made checking temps on steaks, burgers, and even candy for the kids so much easier.The design is pretty slick for the price (I paid around $20). It’s got a long, foldable probe that keeps my hands safely away from the grill heat, and the display lights up nice and bright, which is great when I’m grilling in the evening. The screen flips automatically depending on how I hold it, so it’s super easy to read whether I’m using my left or right hand. Plus, it turns on as soon as I open the probe and shuts off when I close it, which saves the battery. I’ve used it for a few months now, and the included AAA battery is still going strong.It reads temps crazy fast—usually in 3 or 4 seconds—and seems accurate. I tested it against boiling water and it was spot-on at 212°F. Whether I’m checking chicken, frying oil, or even making caramel, it handles everything I throw at it. The temp range goes from really cold (-58°F) to super hot (572°F), so it’s versatile. I also like that I can lock the temp on the screen to read it after pulling it out of the meat.Cleaning is a breeze since it’s waterproof—I just rinse it under the tap. The magnet on the back sticks to my fridge, but it’s a bit weak, so it’s slid off a couple of times. My only real gripe is that it feels a little plasticky, and the button to release the probe took some getting used to. My family and I were on vacation for a week and realized we had forgotten our food thermometer, so I hopped on Amazon to have one sent to our vacation spot. It arrived in two days and saved us for a few nights while we were there. The temperature display is adequate and I would say average for the size thermometer. Temperature readings come out very quickly compared to how long we used to have to wait with older thermometers. I liked the back lit display which made reading temperatures easy at night. An additional bonus that this thermometer has is that the temperature rotates on the screen. So if you have it One Direction and flip it over to the other direction, the reading on the screen rotates to the right side of orientation. It makes reading temperatures out a glance a lot easier instead of having to decipher it upside down. The thermometer was also priced right and I feel that it was good value for the money spent.

I don’t like how long it takes to register the temp once you probe the meat. I’ve had the thermpro TP18 for years and it recently broke so I gave this one a try. After so many uses with this one it will now be a backup as I ordered me another TP18, it registers internal temp immediately once inserted. When doing one piece of meat this might not be a big deal but when doing Multiple pieces of chicken for example and your temping them all, that’s the issue with this thermometer and taking so long to register internal temps.

I prepare a lot of pork, chicken, beef, and fish outside on my grill and my smoker. I want to monitor the meat as it cooks, then pull it when it reaches the proper internal temperature. This probe works very well for doing those spot checks. It has a built-in magnet that allows me to stick it to the microwave next to the stove for easy access while cooking indoors. I’ve been very pleased with this thing and have used it often over the past five years.Recently I took it outside to check the temp of some chicken thighs I was grilling. When I opened the probe to turn it on, the display only showed a line of dashes. I turned it on and off a few times with no change, so I replaced the batteries. Still displayed nothing but dashes. I was a bit unhappy because It’s never failed me over the years.I got online and went to Thermapro’s website and saw that others had reported the same issue with their probe. I reported what happened to my item and sent them the Amazon order number. Lo and behold, they sent me a new orange probe (just like the original one) free of charge! I can’t be more delighted with the Thermapro probe and with their customer support! I highly recommend their products and their service. Thank you Thermapro!

This thermometer works okay. However, it seems to be a downgrade from the previous one I had by this same company. This one does not have a button that makes the thermometer stick pop out and the color is orange, which makes it look like something that should be in a tool box- not in the kitchen.

Why did you pick this product vs others?:We've had our other one (the exact same one) for years. I accidentally broke it by bending the probe while talking and not paying attention to what I was doing. I broke the hard plastic at the end. It still works, but I wanted one that wasn't broken. It's durable, great value for the money, has a magnet so it attaches to the side of my fridge out of sight, it's super lightweight but sturdy.

Why did you pick this product vs others?:Good price, fast delivery and the different than usual color available. Works great and is so handy right on my refrigerator door or side of microwave or side of oven. It's magnetic. Easy to use and read. Instructions included. One hundred percent better than the one I bought from the a famous Chef. I like the chef but not his meat thermometer that I bought. (Orange color)
